‘The Boy Friend’: San Benito Stage Company presents their teen musical “The Boy Friend” Oct. 19-20, 26-27 and Nov. 2-3 at 7 p.m.; Oct. 21 and 28 at 2 p.m. at the Granada Theater, 336 Fifth St., Hollister. Battle of the Bands: On Oct. 20, the San Benito High School Rock Guitar Club will host its annual Battle of the Bands in the school auditorium, featuring special alumni guest performers Smythe Alley and Burned at the Stake, plus plenty of teen performers including the Council, Splitz, and Gravel. The event has a new twist, too, as the audience will choose the winner. Come to the concert and support your favorite performers.

Fall Fashion Show and Luncheon: The San Benito County Cattlewomens presents the 7th Annual Fall Fashion Show & Luncheon Oct. 21 at noon at San Juan Oaks Golf & Country Club. $25 per person. RSVP by Oct. 10. Details: Jayme at 831-801-0394.

Local authors to hold book signing: Peter Sonne and Joseph McMahon will hold a book signing for their book “Images of America: Hollister” at Barnes and Noble, 6825 Camino Arroyo, in Gilroy, Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the book benefits the San Benito County Historical Society. Additional book signings will be held in November. The book is also available at San Juan State Historic Park Gift Shop, Hollister Ace Hardware, McKinnon Lumber, Penny Wise Drug Store, Ranchers Feed, San Benito Bene and Amazon.com

Countywide garage sale day: The third annual countywide garage sale is scheduled for Oct. 20, from 8 to 2 p.m. Addresses will be listed in fliers available on Oct. 19 at several locations in Hollister, San Juan Bautista, Aromas and Paicines. The annual event is sponsored by the County of San Benito Integrated Waste Management Regional Agency.
