Hollister Art League shares 50 years
The Hollister Art League is celebrating 50 years of art in the community with a display at the San Benito County Free Library, on Fifth Street, that includes a photographer of the group’s founder Fay Kennedy. It also includes small paintings, cards and calendars. The Hollister Art League’s Spring Show will also be on display at Mars Hill Coffeehouse, 610 San Benito St., through June. It features watercolor, acrylic and photographs. A one-person show by Carlos Munoz is also on display at Mars Hill featuring paintings of movie stars and skeletons.
Hollister Airshow:
The Hollister Airshow will be Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Hollister Municipal Airport. See thrilling aerobatic maneuvers in the sky and motorcycle demonstrations. Tickets are available at the airport manager’s office at 90 Skylane Drive and at the ticket window on the days of the airshow. Tickets are $15 for adults 13 and older, $10 for children 6 to 12 and free for children 5 or under. Parking is $5. A family pass for two adults, two children and parking is $40. Mushroom Mardi Gras:
The Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras will be held at the Downtown Morgan Hill Community Center Grounds and Depot Street, between Dunne and Third streets, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. The festival features arts and crafts, gourmet food, live entertainment and more.
American Legion Poker Run:
The American Legion Riders Chapter 69 will host an annual poker run Sunday, starting at the Veterans Memorial Building, 649 San Benito St., with registration to start at 8:30 a.m.
Memorial Day ceremonies:
Local VFW and American Legion groups will host four ceremonies on Memorial Day to commemorate the memory of soldiers lost in battle. The ceremonies will be in San Juan Bautista at 9 a.m., at the IOOF Cemetery at 10 a.m., at the Calvary Cemetery at 11 a.m., and the Veterans Memorial Building at noon, followed by a barbecue.
