Recorded at the Garlic Classic in Gilroy last month, San Benito’s seed time of 1:35.68 in the Sprint Medley was its one and only performance in the non-traditional event this season, making Friday’s second-place finish at Arcadia just the second time the foursome has competed in the event this year.

Meanwhile, the third-place finisher Friday was Sheepshead Bay of New York, which clocked a 1:34.47, while Central finished fourth in 1:34.69.

Los Alamitos was fifth in 1:35.30; Peninsula was sixth in 1:36.22; Oaks Christian was seventh in 1:36.61; De La Salle was eighth in 1:38.73; and O’Connor of Arizona was ninth in 1:39.06.

Earlier in the day, San Benito’s 4×800 relay team competed, and it clocked an 8:15.37 to finish in 15th place out of 16 teams.

The top time went to the Southern Section’s Redondo High, which recorded a 7:55.01.

Comprised of Sergio Alcala, Jose Castillo, David Kret and Scott Medina, San Benito’s seed time for the event was an 8:01.48, which the team clocked just two weeks ago at the Stanford Invitational.

The Balers will return to the elite Arcadia Invitational on Saturday as well. Scott Medina is expected to compete in the 300-meter hurdles at 1:41 p.m.; Jason Roascio will try his hand in the 200 meters at 3 p.m.; while the 4×400 relay team, comprised of Roascio, Medina, Kret and Taylor Lothman, will close out the meet at 3:57 p.m.
