Travel band plays

Students in the Hollister School District were treated to a special concert on May 30 and June 2 by members of the elementary travel band and choir.
The band, directed by Susan Silveira, is comprised of a select number of students who are members of the advanced elementary band program. They represent the Accelerated Achievement Academy, Calaveras, Cerra Vista, Gabilan Hills, Ladd Lane, RO Hardin, Sunnyslope and the Dual Language Academy.
The students performed four pieces, including “Smoke on the Water,” and “Clarinet Cookin’.” Choir members sang selections from the Disney movies “Frozen” and “The Little Mermaid,” and the classic movie “Gypsy.” The travel band performances are presented in order to  introduce younger students to the music program, encouraging them to join once they reach the upper grades at their school.
