San Benito High School School Board Trustee Tim Shellito hasĀ  announced his resignation.

Shellito made the announcement at lastĀ  weekā€™s board of trustees meeting. He cited personal reasons forĀ  leaving the board.

Shellito was elected to the five-person board of trustees in NovemberĀ  2010. Before that, he served as a teacher for the district for moreĀ  than 30 years.

The board voted 4-0 to appoint someone to the board until November,Ā  when there will be an election to serve out the remainder of theĀ  term, two more years.

Residents can apply for the opening through April 4, with anĀ  appointment expected shortly after that.

Two other seats are open in this yearā€™s election ā€“ those of EvelynĀ  Muro and Raymond Rodriguez.
