LAS VEGAS

Three games down. One to go.

The San Benito High baseball team is currently 2-1 at the Easton Sports Easter Classic in Las Vegas this week, and are awaiting their seeding heading into Friday’s final game.

The Haybalers, which departed Hollister on Tuesday, played against Douglas High School of Minden, Nev., on Wednesday night, but lost 10-4 in the opening game.

This morning, San Benito returned for a doubleheader, starting bright and early at 8 a.m.

The ‘Balers battled Bishop Gorman 2 in the first game, which was made up of both varsity and junior varsity players from Las Vegas’ Bishop Gorman High, and the ‘Balers won 4-2 to even their record at 1-1.

Following the victory, San Benito returned to the field to take on Van Nuys’ Montclair Prep and delivered a convincing 13-4 win.

At 2-1 in Pool B, San Benito could earn either the No. 1 seed or the No. 2 seed in their pool.

The differance is dependent upon what Douglas High does against Montclair Prep, which began playing at 2 p.m.

If Douglas wins, San Benito would earn the 2-seed and play the 2-seed from Pool A Friday at 11 a.m.

If Douglas loses, the ‘Balers would be the top seed in Pool B and play against the No. 1 team from Pool A on Friday at 5 p.m.
