Sanchez

Hollister police and county sheriff deputies set up a perimeter Friday afternoon while searching for the second of two suspects wanted in the gunfire exchange that occurred last weekend on the west side, but could not capture the wanted man.

Police blocked off certain residential streets Friday around 4 p.m. Officers were seen walking throughout the area, at times with guns drawn as they searched.

Below is video from the scene:

Police and deputies were looking in the area of Line Street and Canal Alley, near Central Avenue.

They were looking for Humberto Gomez Sanchez, 34, who is wanted in connection with the shooting Sunday at the intersection of Central Avenue and Teresita Court, said police Capt. David Westrick. An officer Friday had positively identified Sanchez in that neighborhood, spurring the police action.

Look back Monday for video from the scene.

Police kept the perimeter intact for about an hour but could not find Sanchez, Westrick said.

The second suspect, Tomas Venegas Jr., was previously arrested and remains at the county jail.

A warrant has been issued for Sanchez, charging him on suspicion of discharging a firearm in public and assault with a deadly weapon.

Sanchez is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 5 inches, 165 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Sanchez has multiple tattoos throughout his body, according to the HPD.

Police say Sanchez is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, call police at (831) 636-4330 immediately and do not approach or attempt to detain Sanchez.
