Steve and Marlene LaMar, parents of missing teen Sierra LaMar, announce the increase of the reward for their daughter's safe return to $25,000, with Marc Klaas of the KlaasKids Foundation behind them.

A red four-door sedan is being linked to the disappearance of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar who has been missing since March 16, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department announced Monday morning in a press release.

It’s the first piece of news linked to the missing person’s case in several weeks.

“Witnesses combined with investigative review of video surveillance sources have identified a vehicle similar to the make and model (photo at left) as being associated with Sierra’s disappearance,” according to the press release.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the South County community to call the tip line with any information associated to the vehicle, which may assist detectives in their investigation.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office remains completely focused on locating Sierra LaMar and determining who is responsible for her disappearance. Investigative resources from the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division in collaboration with multiple local and federal agencies continue to follow-up on leads.

Investigators have submitted items of evidence which have been processed by the County Crime Lab and State Crime Lab, many of which have been determined not to be associated to the case, such as an empty handcuff box and used condoms.

However, information developed by Sheriff’s Investigators, supported by forensic examination and County Crime Lab reports, has assisted in furthering the investigation.

“We are still awaiting additional lab results,” according to the Sheriff’s Department.
