Veterans Day ceremony and parade
The Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 9242 and 6359, Ladies Auxiliary, and the American Legion Post No. 69 will be honoring past and present veterans with a barbecue and ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Building, in Hollister, on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. A Veterans Day Parade will follow the festivities at 1:30 p.m.

Veterans Day breakfast
The League of United Latin American Citizens will host a Veterans Day Breakfast Nov. 11, from 7 a.m. to noon, with a veteran recognition program from 9 to 10 a.m., at the San Benito High School cafeteria, 1220 Monterey St. Tickets are $8 and proceeds benefit the 2012 Scholarship Fund sponsored by the San Benito County LULAC Council No. 2890.
The 2011 Veteran of the Year Honoree is Felipe Galvan Jr., a U.S. Marine and Iraqi War veteran. He is the commander of the San Juan Bautista Leslie Garratt VFW Post No. 6359.

San Benito County Free Library display
Through the end of November, the San Benito County Free Library will have a display with items from local families to honor the veterans who served in various wars. The members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 9242 and American Legion No. 69, library volunteers installed the photos and graphics that were contributed by members of the groups and the community.
