Behind 16 kills from Robert Henderson, 15 kills from Kevin Thome and 32 assists by David Hawks, the Balers dropped Salinas in four games in Tri-County Athletic League action Thursday, with the Cowboys earning its one and only victory in the third game.

“It was difficult for us because we were up, I would say, six points,” San Benito coach Sam Klauer said of the Balers’ lead in the third. “Then we just kind of crumbled a little bit. But we still pulled out the win.”

Game scores were not provided at press time.

San Benito is now 10-3 in the TCAL, 18-6 overall.

James Flook provided 10 kills in Thursday’s win, Eric Adams had 19 digs and Isaiah Acfalle delivered nine kills and four blocks. Thome had seven blocks to go along with his 15 kills, while Tanner Lomanto had seven kills and seven digs and Dylan Lomanto had 12 digs.

Thursday’s win provided San Benito with a season sweep of Salinas, as the Balers previously defeated the Cowboys in five sets on March 8.

The Balers are now off for spring break. The team won’t return until Tuesday, April 26, when it will visit Christopher High in Gilroy. Match time is 6:30 p.m.
