Panelists answered the following: Do you have faith there will be significant immigration reform by federal leaders over the next two years?
Ruth Erickson: “Only if the president and Congress are able to reach a workable agreement on immigration reform, can progress be made toward positive results. The borders need to be secured before decisions can be made and implemented.”
Mary Zanger: “Yes. Even though John Boehner, Republican speaker of the House, has threatened to fight Obama ‘Tooth and nail on immigration.’ The Republicans remain opposed to anything that might make Obama look good. The only hope is for President Obama to start with something positive like an executive order reinforced by the determination of 12 million hard working immigrants. How sad that Republicans refuse amnesty to 12 million TAXPAYING Hispanics but are hell-bent on giving amnesty to TAX-FREE dollars when those corporate profits re-enter this country from tax havens.”
Cesar Flores: “No! I believe that this Congress continues to be the most disrepectful body of individuals towards the Office of the President of the United States. Our government seems to be lost in an inner squabble and forgotten about the issues that affect all individuals regardless of political beliefs.”
