The Balers started off the week Thursday hosting Christopher High. The Balers carried the momentum from four first-quarter goals to blow out Christopher 12-4. Carlos Huerta scored a game-high three goals in the win for the Balers.

Albert Rodriguez and Bryan Alcorn each added two more goals in the win.

But in a weekend tournament in St. Francis, the Balers struggled mightily. If the first of four games, the Balers were blown out by Clayton 20-5. Clayton got off to an early lead and the Balers were never able to recover. Only Tyler Reuther, with two goals, scored more than a goal for the Balers.

In the second game of the tournament, the Balers did much better, falling to Pinole Valley 13-12. The Balers had a 7-6 lead at halftime, but they fell behind after scoring a goal in the third quarter.

Jordan Dain led the Balers with four goals in the loss. Jarut Barrios and Jacob Garcia each added three more goals for the Balers.

The Balers only win during the tournament came against Novato. The Balers jumped out to an early 3-1 first-quarter lead to gain momentum in the game. At halftime, the Balers extended their lead to 8-4.

Dain and Huerta each scored four goals to lead the Balers.

The Balers finished off the tournament losing to league-rival Palma 10-6. The Balers fell behind 4-0 after the first quarter and eventually trailed 8-2 at halftime. In the second half, the Balers outscored Palma 4-2 but it wasn’t enough.

Garcia scored three goals in the loss, including the Balers only goals in the first half.

The Balers finished the week of play on a high note Tuesday, beating Harbor 10-4 in a home blowout. The Balers scored five goals in the second quarter to pull away from the Pirates. Huerta scored four goals in the Baler win.

The Balers will travel to Palma on Tuesday to continue league play. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
