I was disturbed by your editorial about why you think it is
wrong to prohibit students from wearing flags at school. There was
an opinion letter written in by a SBHS student that explained some
of the issues that take place when flags are worn at school.

I was disturbed by your editorial about why you think it is wrong to prohibit students from wearing flags at school. There was an opinion letter written in by a SBHS student that explained some of the issues that take place when flags are worn at school.

I agree with you that more needs to be taught about our flag, as well as an appreciation for flags of other countries. But, wearing a U.S. flag on our clothes not only shouldn’t be allowed at SBHS, it is actually against flag etiquette to do so. Our society has lost respect for most of these rules, but if you are wanting students to be taught about the flag, I believe the correct place to start would be with the history and etiquette about the flag.
