The Women’s Club of Hollister is a nonprofit organization that annually supports the community through financial contributions to various charitable organizations in addition to supporting the Scholarship Awards Program. The awards, which the club has given for over 30 years, are intended to recognize the graduating female seniors who have excelled academically and have been actively involved in both student and community service activities.
In the past, scholarships were awarded to graduates of San Benito and Anzar high schools. However, because many San Benito County students/residents attend schools outside the county, the scholarship committee elected to expand the award process to include those resident/students attending schools outside the county.
The Women’s Club is proud to announce the following as recipients of the scholarship awards for 2015.
Chanel Enz is a graduating senior from Notre Dame High School in Salinas. She has been accepted at Texas Christian University and will major in business and accounting.
Clara Jiminez is a graduating senior from San Benito High School. She is valedictorian of her class and has been accepted at the University of California, Berkeley. She will major in creative writing.
Erica Leung is a graduating senior from St. Francis High in Watsonville. She has been accepted at the University of Oregon and will major in public relations.
Jessica Ward is a graduating senior from St. Francis High. She has been accepted at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix where she will major in nursing.
Katie Reardon is a graduating senior from Monte Vista High in Watsonville. She has been accepted at San Diego State University where she will major in physical therapy.
Haley Van Dam is a graduating senior from Notre Dame High in Salinas. She has been accepted at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she will major in nursing.
The scholarship recipients and their mothers were invited to attend as honored guests the Women’s Club May 13 luncheon held at San Juan Oaks Golf Club. The recipients were introduced and each expressed appreciation for the awards. They will receive their awards at their respective schools’ award ceremonies.
