Wrestling coach Kelly St. John demonstrated a move to a pair of Warrior wrestlers.

The Hollister Warriors youth wrestling program continued building upon its season success Saturday, as two wrestlers won individual championships at the Greco-Roman State Championship in Fresno.

For the second time this year, 70-pound Bantam Division wrestler Khader Yasin took home a state title. In March, Yasin won the Folkstyle state championship.

Unlike Folkstyle wrestling, in the Greco-Roman wrestling it is forbidden to hold, trip or use legs to score points.

Yasin was one of eight Warrior wrestlers to compete at the annual meet in Fresno. Teammate Zachary Thompson — wrestling in the 55-pound Intermediate Division — also took first place in his class.

Omar Yasin — competing in the 45-pound Bantam Division — took fifth place. In the 70-pound Intermediate Division, Victor Jacinto took sixth place. His brother Vincent Jacinto — wrestling in the 80-pound Novice Division — took fourth place.

Michael Zaragoza’s seventh-place finish in the 105-pound Schoolboy Division and Fayz Yasin’s — in the 105-pound Schoolboy Division — eighth-place finish rounded out the Warriors’ weekend.
