Dear Editor,
I fear this letter is an exercise in futility and write it only because my little heart begs me to do so.
In a short time, George Bush and his cronies will launch a war on the people and land of Iran. He will, as he has done before, put our children before him as pawns before a king, and they will die or return to us, broken.
The last war waged by this madman was embraced by CNN and Fox, by mothers and fathers who sent their children to their doom with the promise of a star in the window or a bumper sticker expressing their pride in their child’s choice of military branch. Based on the polls, a lot of you now feel that the stickers and stars don’t quite fill the void left by your victims.
Let’s assume we have learned our lesson, so, we need to write to every member of Congress and the Senate – we must call them, we must tell them they are not allowed to murder our children.
We must tell our children that they do not have to prove themselves to us by becoming cannon fodder, and let them know you will stand in front of them and not allow the murder machine take them.
Call CNN, Fox, MSNBC, tell them that if they cover this war with graphics that inspire a 1984-like hate in the populace, we will turn them off and return to newspapers for our news.
Tell your church leaders that they are not allowed to preach how Jesus says its OK to drop bombs and blow the heads of anybody.
You must get involved. Stop this man before he kills your child.
