The San Benito High cross country team posted top times at last Saturday’s Pacific Grove Invitational.

Senior Emi Miskin recorded a 20:19.69 to take first place in the 5K girls varsity race to lead the Lady Balers. Michelle Duarte was third at 21:08.44 and Kristina Vasquez was fifth in 22:29.12.

Other notable runners in the varsity race included Indelisa Muro (16th, 24:09.31); Natalie Macias (18th, 24:25.78); and Melisah Cortez (23rd, 25:02.03).

In the 5K junior race, Dayna Casillas (5th, 22:53.78) and Grace Tobias (7th, 23:03.91) represented San Benito with high finishes, while in the 5K freshmen race, Sarai Fuentes (2nd, 22:30.69), Amanda Hill (4th, 23:01.12), Cynthia Trujillo (5th, 23:10.06) and Amy Deidrick (8th, 24:27.62) posted top-10 times.

On the boys side, San Benito garnered six of the top 15 spots in the 5K varsity race. Jose Castillo (2nd, 17:11.70), Said Hernandez (3rd, 17:21.09) and Omar Vasquez (4th, 17:28.42) earned top-five placings, while Sergio Alcala (6th, 17:36.60) and Ricardo Esqueda (7th, 17:55.23) finished within the top 10. John Adams (18:54.14) took 15th.

Other notable runners for the Baler boys included Robb Rodriguez, who finished 10th in the 5K freshmen race at 20:25.56, while David Kret (18:39.99) and Victor Esqueda (18:46.99) finished in third and fifth, respectively, in the 5K sophomore race.
