Editor,

Assembly Bill 765 by Simon Salinas would, if enacted, increase socialist public transit, increase local government deficit spending and erode small business.

Expanding public-sector bus transport with fares covering only a tiny portion of the costs will mean shifting the burden of bigger government on to the backs of taxpayers, especially small business owners. He and American Public Transit Association want to add to their “99 percent bus system” – i.e., 99 percent of costs of moving 99 percent empty seats 99 percent of the time 99 percent on the taxpayers.

I say it is 100 percent wrong, 100 percent un-American, 100 percent Soviet-style.

Our local leaders should resolve to oppose AB-765, help local small business owners, reject Mr. Salinas’ and APTA’s policy of furthering encroachment of government into private sector business. If we don’t stop them now, where will we draw the line?
