After more than four decades of service, an employee of Hollister-based Guerra Nut Shelling is calling it quits on Friday.

Connie Flores plans to retire from the walnut business Friday after starting her work with the company 42 years ago in the mid-1970s. She worked closely under three generations of family including founders that included Frank Guerra Sr, Carl Guerra and Frank’s son Anthony.

The next step in Connie’s journey includes an Italian pilgrimage this November. The company had planned to hold a small celebration this last Wednesday before press time.
