Dona Maria’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant has moved from Tres Pinos to downtown Hollister, taking over the space of the former business Pancho’s.

Dona Maria’s opened at the spot at 202 Fourth St. on Jan. 10, said the owner, Erik Caballero. The restaurant is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Caballero described it as “family food and fun” and noted how the traditional Mexican food is prepared fresh, from scratch. He noted the homemade tortillas, fresh salsa, and the beer and wine menu in particular. While it serves breakfast during the week, Dona Maria’s also has menudo and posole. The owner also mentioned it hosts private parties and there are live mariachis every Friday night.
