The California High-Speed Rail Authority will host community meetings tonight and Wednesday to discuss the project’s sound and visual impacts in Gilroy and Morgan Hill.

The first meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight at the Gilroy High School Student Center, located at 750 West 10th Street. Wednesday’s meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community & Cultural Center at 17000 Monterey Road.

The meetings are also intended to harbor discussions on mitigation approaches and other issues raised by community members.

In January, residents offered rail officials feedback on the project’s alignment options.

The City of Gilroy announced earlier this month it would use a $150,000 Valley Transportation Authority grant to fund a station visioning process, which will analyze potential rail station locations in Downtown Gilroy and east of U.S. Highway 101.

Many residents have spoken out against the east station option at community meetings over the past few months.
