Three residents were injured Monday morning in an accident at the intersection of the Highway 25 bypass and San Felipe Road, while one of the passengers was airlifted to a hospital.
The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the Highway 25 bypass entering Hollister at the San Felipe Road intersection. A maroon Chevrolet Silverado and beige Chrysler sedan were involved. The Chevy truck had damage to its front right end, while it struck the car on its passenger side.
After responders removed the one male passenger in the car using the Jaws of Life cutting tool, they transported him by ambulance to the airport, where a Calstar helicopter airlifted him to an out-of-county hospital.
Responders treated the other two involved residents at the scene, including the female driver of the car and one of the males in the truck. They were both transported by ambulance to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital.
While treating the victims, authorities closed traffic heading east on the bypass entering the city, along with northbound traffic on San Felipe Road.
The California Highway Patrol was investigating the accident, and other details weren’t immediately available.
Responders included the CHP, Hollister Police Department, Calfire, Hollister Fire Department and American Medical Response.
