Helen Louise Hayworth, born in Wolcott, New York passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years on Feb. 15, 2010.
Helen co-owned and operated Porky’s Cafe in Sparks, Nevada with her lifelong friend Lois Baker. Affectionately known as “mother” by her customers, Helen would have their breakfast ready while Lois poured their first cup of coffee, and would have their lunch packed by the time they had their last sip!
When she retired from the restaurant business, Helen and her husband Ernie moved to Hollister to be near her only child, Nancy Doan. Helen enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling, and visiting with friends at the Senior Center. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, SIRS, and BPW.
Helen is survived by her grandchildren Linda McCabe (“That Girl”) and husband Doug (Klamath Falls, OR), Vicki Fortino and Husband Phil (Hollister), Doug Doan and wife Lurita (Great Falls, VA), Teri Grant and husband Jim (Bonanza, OR); her great grandchildren Doug McCabe Jr. and wife Treeva (Klamath, Falls,), Michelle McCabe Strauss and husband Justin (Klamath Falls), Philip Fortino and wife Vanessa (Hollister), Dina Fortino Sanchez and Husband Kyle (Hayward, CA), Matthew Grant and wife Kim (Klamath Falls), Kimberly Grant Warren and Husband Nick (Bend, OR) Katie Grant(Bonanza), and Natalia and Alexandra Doan (Great Falls). Helen was also blessed to have known her great, great grandchildren Vincent and Sabrina Fortino, Julia Warren, and got to see Callie Grant who was born three days before her death.
Helen also leaves behind one of three siblings, Dottie Landon and beloved nieces and nephews.
The family is very greatful for the care given to Helen by the Marquis Care at Plum Ridge Nursing Home in Klamath Falls, OR.
As per Helen’s wishes private inurnment will be held. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Community Pantry of San Benito County c/o Grunnagle Ament Nelson 870 San Benito St., Hollister.
