Margie C. Albaugh passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, John. They would have been married in June for 62 years. She is the loving mother of J. Chris (Larry) Mickartz, Bunny Albaugh, Bonny Cochran, Pamela (John) McCarthy, Roy Albaugh and the late John Albaugh; Grandmother of 20 including local grandchildren Kristine Latronica-Lee and Stephanie Vegh; Sister of Frances Selvester, John Hoffman, Charles Hoffman and the late Lois Brown; Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

She was the Executive Director of St. Joseph’s Family Center from 1982 to 2001. She touched many lives and started many programs for the homeless and needy of Gilroy. She was lovingly called the Mother Theresa of Gilroy. She also had an audience with Pope John Paul. President of Hadas Madrinas Guild of the Crippled Children’s Society 1982 to 1984. She was Woman of the Year for Gilroy Chamber of Commerce in 1986. Over the years she has received numerous awards for her humanitarian efforts and contributions to the community. She was a devout Catholic attending daily Mass and singing in the church choir at St. Marys.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4th St., Gilroy. Vigil service will begin at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon. Mass of Light will be held on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 11 First St., Gilroy followed by burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to St. Joseph’s family Center.
