Hal was born in Spokane, WA and raised and educated in Kellogg, ID. He graduated from Kellogg High School and Idaho State University School of Pharmacy. He moved to Hollister in 1966. He was a long time member of the Hollister Elks Lodge. He owned and operated Whalen’s Drug Store for many years before retiring and moving to Sherwood, Oregon in 1996.

Hal served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Portland Bentham Lions Club.

He is survived by his children, Laurie Maheu, Linda Breeden and Kevin Neubauer; brothers, Leonard and Kenneth Neubauer; and nine grandchildren.
