Santa Clara county resident, Emily Bettencourt passed away on September 18, 2010 from a brief battle with leukemia surrounded by her family and friend. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Gilroy and I.F.D.E.S. Hall of Gilroy. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and was loved by all. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Joseph Bettencourt, her parents Antonio and Frances Amaro, her brothers and sister Tony Amaro, John Amaro, Frank Amaro, Jose Amaro and Mary Cisneros. Mother of Larry Bettencourt and his wife, Bonnie of Hanford, CA and John Bettencourt and his wife, Salderrrena of Chowchilla, CA. Grandmother of Christina Kaupp and her husband, Garlin of Soledad, CA, Scott Bettencourt and his wife, Brandy of Omaha, NE, Bryon Bettencourt and his wife, Tracy of San Bernardino, CA, John Bettencourt II and his wife, Jennifer of Chowchilla, Larry Bettencourt Jr. and his wife, Bacilia of Gonzales, CA, Erik Bettencourt of Gilroy, Chalena Bettencourt of Lathrop, CA and Rebecca Rose Bettencourt of Soledad. Visitation Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth Street, Gilroy with Vigil at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, 11 First Street, Gilroy. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 900 First St. Gilroy. Family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
