Norman Loyd Kurtz peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center – Santa Teresa Community Hospital.

Norman was born in Los Angeles, CA and resided in Morgan Hill for 22 years. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, earning the National Defense Services Medal, the Korean Services Medal and the United Nations Services Medal. Following his discharge, Norman worked as a Roofer with California Roofing and Keith Roofing. He was a lifelong member of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers, Local 95.

Norman loved life and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, camping and fishing at Lake Tulloch with good food, drink and friends. He was also an avid fan of old Westerns, and spent much of his time in later years in the company of friends and Turner Classic Movies.

Norman is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy McGahey and his daughter Vickie Lynn. He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Barbara Aasboe, children Rick Jarratt, Sandy Jarratt, Shelly Jarratt Reel, Sherry Jarratt Andrus and Robert Kurtz, granddaughter Jory Lynn Jones, brothers Bob Kurtz and Leo Kurtz, and niece and primary caregiver Nancy Robinson, along with many other nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

The Family and Friends will gather for a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 8th, 2010, for time and location please contact Nancy Robinson @ [email protected]. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to a charity of choice.
