Clara Mary Pianalto was born February 2, 1915 in Tontitown, AR. She was the oldest daughter of Peter and Mary Fiori, who were original immigrant settlers of that Italian community. Clara passed away February 15,2009. She was preceded in death in 1968 by her husband, Frank, and in 1972 by granddaughter Cheryl Pianalto. As a young married couple, they located in Gilroy in 1936. Clara was a homemaker and an employee of the Filice & Pirelli Cannery for over 30 years. In her later years, she enjoyed volunteer work at St. Mary Catholic Church, her home of worship.
Clara is survived by her daughter Loretta Pappani (Ben) of Gilroy and sons Robert (Jacquie) of Riverside, CA and Norman (Rosemary) of Bend, OR. Seven loving grandchildren also survive: Michael Pappani, Gina Perine (Ken), Kathy Pappani (Martha McDermott), Brian Pianalto (Amy), Marianne Cox (Chris), Michelle Lee (Kevin) and Scott Pianalto (Kerry). Great-grandchildren include Kai and Sophie Pappani-McDermott; Amy and Nathan Pianalto; Bella and Colton Cox; Lauren and Olivia Lee; Kirstin, Nicole, Isabella and Aiden Pianalto. Also surviving are her sisters, Dorothy. Geanne and Elsie Mae of Tontitown, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to recognize the unselfish care and support given Clara by Loida Filice, Linda Ramos and the nursing staff of St. Louise Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be Monday, February 23, 2009 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, Gilroy. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Gilroy.
