The Hollister Police Department arrested several people suspected of selling marijuana to students in a raid this week, according to a statement from the department.
Officers with help from Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team agents conducted a morning raid Wednesday in Hollister. It led to arrests for possession of drug paraphernalia, child endangerment and possession of marijuana for sale.
Recently, Hollister Police School Resource Officer Michael Paddy has been investigating marijuana sales to students in Hollister. His investigation led him to suspect sales of marijuana occurring at a home on the 1000 block of Victoria Street in Hollister.
Paddy was able to obtain a search warrant for the home. An adult couple and two siblings were found in the residence. Officers located large amounts of marijuana in several different areas of the home. A strong odor of marijuana permeated around the house and scales and packaging materials were also located, according to an HPD statement.
A Hollister woman, 45, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. An 18-year-old male was arrested for possession of marijuana for sales and a 15-year-old juvenile was also arrested for possession of marijuana for sales. A Hollister man, 45, was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and child endangerment.
There was an aggressive pit bull dog and several cats found living in the home. Some of the cats appeared to be “gravely ill,” according to the statement from the police department. Officers were able to conduct the search without hurting the dog, and animal control was called to rescue the animals.
The home was in an unkempt and dirty condition and also had illegal construction and wiring that made it unsafe, according to police. Code enforcement responded and “red tagged” or condemned the home until repairs are made.
