Eleanore Stricker, beloved mother, grandmother & mother-in-law, passed away January 3, 2008 in Gilroy at the age of 76. She loved life and was well known by many for her caring and friendly ways. Eleanore left her family and friends with many happy memories that they will cherish in their hearts forever. Born in San Jose, California to Lydia and George Ernst, she attended schools in San Jose and was a member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in San Jose during the early part of her life. She married Robert Stricker in 1953 and over the next 8 years gave birth to 4 sons and 1 daughter, Mark, Cheryl, Kurt, Drew and Wade. Mark preceded her in death in 1960. Her children were the focal point of her life while she was raising them they felt the love of a mother that would do anything for them. The family moved to Gilroy in 1969. As her children grew, she spent many years helping with their Cub Scout, Girl Scout, and church youth group meetings, working tirelessly to help make sure others have fun. For 28 years, Sundays were spent teaching Sunday School at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gilroy. From her children; Eleanore has 7 grandchildren, Cindy, Ashley, Jeremy, Trevor, Tyler, Chad and Kristiana. Having grandchildren gave her joy in life beyond words. She doted on her grandchildren and they will forever be surrounded by her love, regardless of her passing. Eleanore was the type of person only too willing to help a friend in need, often going out of her way to do so. She just cared that much about people. When the children got older, she began work at Olsen Farms in Gilroy, and continued for approximately 20 years. She worked in the office overseeing the receiving and distribution of products for the company. Eleanore was highly praised for her competence, precision and dependability in a letter given to her at her retirement. Her husband passed away in November 2000. After retirement, Eleanore joined the Senior Center in Gilroy and enjoyed lunch there with her many friends. Sundays were still spent in Church, but teaching Sunday School was by then a commitment she was finished with. Eleanore’s wealth was truly measured in the love she shared with others. She leaves behind family and friends who loved her and will miss her dearly. We are all blessed because of the love she shared with us. We love you Mom. Services will be held Friday, January 11, 2008, 1:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Gilroy. Viewing will begin at 11:00 A.M.
