Ronald Leroy Ayers, devoted father and husband, left this world for a better place Saturday, February 9, 2008. He was 47 years of age.

Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Erin Rene Ashlock in 1999 and his father, Gerald L. Ayers in 2007.

Ron leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Janet Ayers of Chowchila; daughter, Julie Ayers of Clovis; son, Ronald Cody Ayers of Fresno; mother, Ellen Ayers of Gilroy; brother, Donald Ayers, sister-in-law, Kimberly Ayers and nephew, Matthew Ayers of Colorado; sister, Patricia Ayers and niece, Jacquelyn Ayers of Gilroy and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A diesel mechanic for 29 years, Ron held an ASE Master Mechanic Certification. He established his own business, Chowchilla Truck and Equipment Repair in 2001. He often said his job was his hobby because he enjoyed what he did and had the respect and appreciation of his customers, many of whom also became valued friends. His family of ten joked that diesel fuel ran through his veins.

Ron was intelligent and had a great sense of humor. Ron’s other enjoyments in life included driving fast cars, going to the National Finals Rodeo in Vegas every December, and water skiing. He taught himself to ski at the age of 45 and it was always a thrill to watch him from side to side behind his boat jumping the wakes. He had a special place in his heart for his little dog, Diesel.

Ron’s greatest source of joy and pride were his children, Julie and Cody. He was selfless and thought of his family above anything else. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
