In l892 John Botelho and his wife Mary came to Santa Clara, California from Madeira & Azore Islands (Portugal) via Hawaii. They had seven children with the youngest being Pauline Agnes Botelho who was born Sept. 24, 1920. In 1920, the family sold their dairy and moved to the San Juan Valley. Pauline went to the two room school off Olympia Road. She was an avid softball player thorough out school and her young adulthood.

She met Frank Wyrick at the dance at the Saddle Horse Show in San Benito County in 1939 and later drove with her sister Mary to the Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri military base so that she could marry Frank in 1941. While Frank was serving his country, Pauline helped start the Wednesday Club (a group of women whose husbands were away), only three surviving members remain: Eleanor Duplisse, Veronica Botelho, and Laura Botelho.

Once Frank returned from the War (W.W.II), they set up their home in the San Juan Valley; Frank and Pauline enjoyed their farming operation, golfing (nine holers), playing cards, bowling, trips to Reno, entertaining, and their children David and Barbara.

Pauline was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West; San Juan V.F.W. Auxillary; San Juan Bautista Historical Society; and several bridge clubs. Pauline will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her quick wit and her generosity.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Frank, her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren. She is survived by her son David Wyrick (Kim); her daughter Barbara Sargent, five grandchildren: Kelley, Douglas, Stephen (Tiffany), and Nathan Wyrick, and Tracy (David) Harrison; 10 great- grandchildren and three sisters-in-law: Lucille Botelho, Veronica Botelho, and Laura Botelho; nieces and nephews.
