Maria Medina passed away on January 16, 2007. She was the wife of the late Jose S. Medina. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Gloria and Tomas Bustamante, Isabel and Frank Yepiz, Alfredo Medina, Stella and Jose Hernandez, Mary Martinez, Rachel and Louis Garcia, Oscar Medina and Irene Greer, Troylynn Echevarria, and K. C. Adams, 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, brothers; Pablo, Isidoro, Pancho, Carmelo and Javier Perez, sister Bertha Calderon and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jose S. Medina, sons Roger and Jo-Jo Medina, nephews Rufino “Jr.” Suarez and Jose Luis Villa, and grandson J. R. Adams.

Maria was born in Durango, Mexico in 1929. Making Gilroy her home with her husband in 1951, she worked for Gilroy Canning for 35 yrs., and still found time to come home to cook and care for her large and even larger extended family. She loved gardening and caring for her family; that was most important to her. She is loved and will be dearly missed by all.

A visitation will begin at 1 P. M., Tuesday, at Habing Family Funeral Home with Vigil services at 7 P. M. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gilroy. The funeral Mass will be at 10 A. M., Wednesday, at St. Mary Catholic Church with burial following at St. Mary Cemetery.
