Herb Schmitt died on February 1, 2007 after a long illness.
He was born in Los Angeles, CA, on April 26, 1942. Herb was the loving husband to Catherine Schmitt and loving father to Eric and Evan Schmitt of Santa Cruz. He was the loving step-father to Greg Gardo, Bethany Garbo and Dana Diekmann. His brothers are Gary Schmitt of El Dorado and Jack Schmitt of Oceanside.
He worked as a general building contractor in the Santa Cruz and Gilroy areas.
In 1970, he learned of the marvelous good news of the restoration of the earth and the human family by means of the Kingdom rule by Christ as set out in the Scriptures. He became an avid Bible student and served in the Westwood Gilroy Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He awaits his resurrection to a new earth as he was loyal to Jehovah God to the end.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8530 Forest St., Gilroy.
