Micaela G. Higuera was born in Sinaloa, Mexico on Sept. 30, 1926 and passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on April 7, 2007. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Peter Higuera. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Francisco H. Higuera, of 53 years of marriage, mother of Frank N. Higuera & fiance Debra Morano, Michael & Pamela Higuera, and Steve & Marie Ann Fischer, grandchildren Marisha Higuera, Shanel Higuera, Corine Higuera, Chris Fischer, Nico Higuera, Michelle Higuera, and Natalie Fischer. She’s also survived by her brother Norberto Gaxiola, and many nieces and nephews in the Sinaloa, Mexico region.

She had a keen sense of humor, loved to garden, cook for her family, and adored her grandchildren, as well as making homemade tortillas. Her family and friends will greatly miss her and remember her beautiful smile.

Micaela and Francisco moved to the Gilroy California area in 1953 where she was a seasonal worker for the old Gilroy cannery for 30 years and an active parishioner of Saint Mary’s Church for over 50 years.

Friends and Family are invited to the rosary on Friday, 7 P.M. and burial mass on Saturday, 8 A.M., both at St. Mary Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lords Table, in are of St. Joseph’s Family Center, 7950 Church Street, Gilroy, California, 95020.
