GILROY – Sonya Elizabeth (Carter) Cardenas passed away Wednesday, June 6th, 2007, at her home. She was born on April 2, 1956 in Gardena. She worked in Research and Publications at San Jose State University for the Mineta Transportation Institute. She graduated from Branham High School in San Jose in 1974 and attended San Jose City College. She is survived by her husband, Rudy Lee Cardenas of Gilroy; son, Michael Gould Cardenas of Gilroy; stepsons, Jessie Cardenas of Idaho and Paul Cardenas of San Jose; mother, Sonia N. Carter of Roseville; brother and sister-in-law, Harry N. and Sandy L. Carter of San Jose; sister, Diana L. Carter of San Luis Obispo; brother and sister-in-law, Gary G. and Eva Carter of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry G. Carter in October 2004.
Services will be held at 4 P.M. Saturday, June 9th, at the Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth Street, Gilroy.
