Sra. Enedina Martinez nee Hernandez of 1230 Crestview Rd, Hollister, died on Friday, July 13, 2007. Sra. Martinez, a resident of Hollister for 51 years was born on 13 May 1920 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico and was the widow of the late Isaac Martinez to whom she was married for 49 years. Sra. Martinez was a homemaker and enjoyed the music of Agustin Lara. The young family left Mexico in search of a better life. During her lifetime she witnessed immigration policy changes. During the early 1950s she saw her husband and two pre-teen daughters get picked up and held in a holding camp located near Presa Falcon in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. After that the family moved temporarily to Mexico, as the law required, in order to petition for legal residence. Shortly after that the family moved to Hollister. Sra. Martinez has been a member of the Jehovah’s Witness Congregation for many years.

Sra. Enedina Martinez is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Severa Carrillo, Mrs. Bertha Garcia, Mrs. Heladia Nardi, Mrs. Santana (Anne) Martinez, her sons in law, Hijinio Garcia, Luis Martinez, Joe Nardi, her brother, Beto Bandillo Banderas of Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico, her grandchildren, Homero Carrillo, Hugo Carrillo, Hilda Carrillo, Manuel Jr Garcia, Gisela Garcia, Dina Garcia, Tonya Nardi, Stephen Nardi, JoAnna Oliva, Arron Oliva, Javier Martinez, Marisa Santos, her great grandchildren, Natalie Carrillo, Manuel Jr. Carrillo, Robert Carrillo, Athena Garcia, Troy Garcia, Kharas Garcia, Esak Ordonez, Zechariah C. Ordonez, Natasha Molina, Niko Martinez and two great great grandchildren, Andres Carrillo and Malakias Carrillo.

Friends can pay their respects on Friday, July 20, 2007 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services at the IOOF Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at the family home, 1230 Crestview Rd in Hollister.
