Life time San Benito County resident Daniel Carrillo Sr. passed away at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Thursday at the age of 71 years.
Danny was a graduate of San Benito High School and San Benito Jr. College, and was a veteran of the Korean War. Prior to entering the military service, Daniel had been an employee for Anderson’s Pear Orchards in San Juan Bautista. Upon his discharge Daniel went to work for Teledyne in 1960 when it was located at the Hollister Airport. He retired as their Director Of Operations after a career of 30 yrs. Daniel was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He had been a Little League Baseball Coach and a member of the San Benito Chamber Of Commerce. He loved the out of doors; spending time in his garden; and basically working “hands on” with his projects. He was a Raider fan and enjoyed going to their games; as well as a big U.S.C. fan and attended the Rose Bowl when they played there. Daniel is the son of Pauline Carrillo of Hollister and the late Arnold Carrillo Sr. He is survived by his spouse of 47 years, Jean Carrillo; his son and daughter-in-law Daniel Carrillo Jr. and Myra Carrillo of San Juan Bautista; his grandchildren Mikaela and Ariana Carrillo of San Juan Bautista; and a sister-in-law Carolyn Mead; and many nieces and nephews. He was predecesed by his son Robert Carillo and brothers Ray, Richard, and Arnold Carrillo Jr.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4th, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 P.M., with the rosary recited at 7:00 P.M at the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home. Family and friends will leave the mortuary on Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. for a Mass Of Resurrection beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Donations are preferred to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, c/o the morturay chapel.
