Edgar (Ed) Coffman passed away on November 26, 2006 at the age of 81. Born in Arkansas on April 25, 1925, Ed and his family moved to Gilroy when he was a teenager. Ed was a World War II veteran, and he was a member of the 101st Airborne Glider Infantry. He never lost his love of airplanes.

He was involved in the Gilroy community as a member of the San Ysidro School Board for 15 years; he worked as a purchasing manager for 25 years until health problems forced him into retirement.

Ed is survived by the love of his life, Dorothy; they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July. He is also survived by his four children and their spouses: Daniel and Karen Hager, Jim and Eileen Bertsch, Michael and Gina Coffman, and Bobby and M.J. Bettencourt. Additionally, he is survived by his six grandchildren, their spouses, and two great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Kelly, Jake, and Christopher Bettencourt; Heidi Bettencourt; Julia and Marcus Covert; Melanie and Joe Gularte; David Coffman; and Michelle Hager and her fiancee Nick Hernandez. He is also survived by his brother, George Coffman. Ed was preceded in death by his grandson, Dustin Bettencourt; his sister, Nina Hayes; and his parents, Charles and Nettie Coffman.

Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to attend services that will be held in the chapel of St. Mary Catholic Parish on December 6, 2006 at 11 AM.
