Richard E. Stebbins died in Hollister after a lengthy illness. He was born in Salinas and moved to Hollister from the Santa Cruz Mountains 8 years ago. He was a U.S. Naval pilot from 1950 to 1956 and was in the Naval Reserve from 1956 to 1966. He flew fighters of the Essex and Yorktown aircraft carriers and was a United Airlines Captain for over 30 years. He also attended the First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Fisher Stebbins of Hollister, his children and their spouses, David and Candy Stebbins of Oregon, Susan and David DeCamp of Watsonville and Karen and Kirk Adney of Aptos and his step children, John and Ellen Fisher of Hollister and Julie Fisher Carroll of San Juan Bautista, his sister, Barbara Nelson of Houston, TX and his 11 grand children and 3 step grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving caregiver, John Amaya of Hollister.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Hollister. A reception will follow the services at the church hall.

Donations are preferred to The First Presbyterian Church Building Fund or Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation.
