Susan Ellen Carreiro passed away suddenly in Hollister on Jan.
15 at the age of 53 years.
Susan Ellen Carreiro passed away suddenly in Hollister on Jan. 15 at the age of 53 years.

Susan was a native of Winnemucca, Nev. Susan moved to California in 1958 and lived on the Dunne Ranch and attended the Ausaymas School as a child. While in primary school her family moved to the Mendota/Coalinga areas where she graduated from Tranquility High School. It was after her return to San Benito County in 1968 that she married Daniel T. Carreiro on June 28, 1969.

Susan was a former member of the San Benito County Cattlewomen’s Association. “Besides being a devoted homemaker, she loved being with her family and especially her grandson.” At times she had worked for Dr. Roger Bruce, DVM as well as for Pet Friends. “She was very fond of taking care of her cats and gardening at her home and most recently she enjoyed working as a independent gardner.” ” An avid knitter, she was recognized for the quality of her work which she sold as well as making gifts to others.”

In addition to her husband Daniel T. Carreiro, Susan is survived by her son Frank J. Carreiro and his spouse Viki of Hollister; her grandson Adam Carreiro; her parents Marvin and Mary Ellen Jones of Fallon, Nev.; her mother-in-law Alice Carreiro of Hollister; her brother Jay Jones and his wife Elaine of Hollister; her twin sister Sharon Slagowski and husband Carl of Carlin, Nev.; her sister Kathi Lee-Jones and companion Delvan of Fallon, Nev.; her uncle David Jones of Bruno, Idaho; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Daniel Carreiro and her father-in-law Dan Carreiro.

Visitation will be held on Thursday at the chapel of the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St., Hollister from 5pm until 8pm.

Family and friends will leave the mortuary chapel on Friday morning at 9:30am to proceed to Immaculate Conception Church, 7290 Airline Highway, Tres Pinos for a mass which will begin at 10am.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Pet Friends or the donors favorite charity c/o Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home.
