Stephanie Hurtado died March 13, 2004 in Gilroy after two years of illness. She was 25.

She was born in Gilroy and came to San Benito County nine years ago. She attended San Andreas High School and Gavilan College. Upon completion at Gavilan, she entered into her career in San Martin as an assistant at San Martin Child Development Program for Santa Clara County. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hollister and The Rock church in Morgan Hill. She enjoyed life and being with family, going to the beach, dancing, watching sunsets and traveling.

She is survived by her husband Aldo Hurtado of Hollister, parents Refugio and Minerva Franco of Hollister, in-laws Aureliano and Eva Hurtado of Hollister, grandmother Minerva Garcia of Gilroy, brothers Jose and Jaime Garcia of Hollister, sisters-in-law Gaby Vallejo, Monica Ford and Lorena Scalmanini of Hollister. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 17 at 5 p.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home until 8 p.m. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Family and friends will leave the mortuary chapel on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. to go to St. Benedicts Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
