H. Alnas died in his San Juan Bautista home from a lengthy
battle with illness Tuesday evening. He was 58 years old.

William “Willie” H. Alnas died in his San Juan Bautista home from a lengthy battle with illness Tuesday evening. He was 58 years old.
Born in Gilroy and a life-long resident of San Benito County, he attended San Juan Grammar School and graduated from San Benito High School. He was a decorated war veteran serving in the Army during Vietnam where he received a two Purple Heart medals and a Bronze Star Medal.
He enjoyed motorcycle riding with the Top Hatters Motorcycle Club, of which he was a member. He was also a member of the Old San Juan Mission and the San Juan VFW Post.
He spent 36 years as a quality control inspector for Teledyne McCormick Selph in Hollister.
Mr. Alnas is survived by his wife, Patti Alnas, in San Juan Bautista; son Willie Alnas Jr. and wife, Linda, of Hollister; son Matthew Alnas Jr. and wife, Vera, of Gilroy; daughter Erlinda Alnas and son Justin Alnas of San Juan Bautista; granddaughter Ashley Alnas and grandsons Michael and Johnathan Alnas of Hollister; brother John Alnas Jr. of San Juan Bautista; brother Joe Alnas of Hollister; sister Carmen “Anita” Martinez of Mendota; brother Julian R. Alnas of Salinas; brother Ernest H. Alnas of San Juan Bautista; sister Rosalie Lawton of Castroville; brother Raymond E. Alnas of San Juan Bautista; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Alnas Sr. and mother, Ramona Alnas; and sister Erlinda Hurtado.
Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. with the rosary offered Sunday at 7 p.m. at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home proceeding to Old Mission San Juan Bautista for a funeral Mass commencing at 10 a.m. Burial and graveside services will follow at the San Juan District Cemetery.
