John R. Winn passed away May 25, 2004 in San Francisco after a
brief illness. He was 71.
John R. Winn passed away May 25, 2004 in San Francisco after a brief illness. He was 71.
Mr. Winn is survived by his wife, Carolyn Winn, of Gilroy. He is the father of Donald Winn of Hollister and Patty Dumas of Purcell, Okla., and stepfather of Mark, Matt, Michelle and Michael Wallace. John is the brother of Peggy Ford of Nipomo, Mike Winn and Pat Winn, both of Hollister. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and good friends.
Mr. Winn owned and operated Winn & Company Insurance Brokers from 1955 until 1994. Since 1994, John has remained active in the business which his son Don now owns. Mr. Winn loved both waterskiing and motorcycles. From his classic Chris Craft to his off-shore race boat, John loved to be on the water. Mr. Winn was a Coast Guard Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the VFW and the B.P.O.E.
Memorial Services will be Friday, May 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 11 First Street, Gilroy. Under direction of Habing Family Funeral Home.
Donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or St. Marys Medical Center, San Francisco in John’s memory are preferred and appreciated.
