Richard E. Duke died May 4 at Stanford Medical Center at the age
of 57 after a long illness.
Richard E. Duke died May 4 at Stanford Medical Center at the age of 57 after a long illness.
A native of Sonora County, he had lived in the Monterey County area for the past 35 years. He was the owner and operator of the Richard E. Duke Construction company in Prunedale for the past 13 years. He was an avid biker and was a member of HOG (Harley Owners Group) of Monterey County and member of the American Legion in Prunedale. He had formerly served in the U.S. Marines.
He is survived by his wife, Gail R. Duke, of Prunedale, his sons, Richard E. Puccinelli of Hollister and Paul J. Duke of Salinas, and is the step-father of Chari Angeles of San Jose and James Scott of Sunnyvale. He is the grandfather of Christian Puccinelli and Cody Duke and step-grandfather of Carina and Julia Angeles. He is the brother of Leonora Hadley of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Linda Leonard and Rolland Duke, both of Prunedale, Frederick Duke of Oak Hills and the late Ronald Duke. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit at the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home In Hollister this Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A rosary service will be recited Friday at noon at the funeral home. Cremation will follow with graveside services to be held Saturday, May 15 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Salinas. Please call the funeral home for the time. Contributions are preferred to the Federation of the Blind In care of the funeral home.
