James “J.C.” H. Cox Jr. died Tuesday morning June 8, 2004 at the age of 68 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Escondito, California, he moved to Hollister in 1956. J.C. was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. His occupation was a truck driver for 27 years having last worked for J.B. Murphy Trucking.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann “Pee Wee” Cox of Hollister; his mother-in-law, Theresa Irish of Hollister; brother-in-law of Seth Irish of Hollister; Diane Frechette and Steven Irish both of New York; Teresa Jennison of Lincoln, Calif.; Kathy Van Dusen, Walter and Julie Irish all of Hollister. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Cox, Sr, who died in 1993.

A private graveside service with full military rites will be held at San Joaquin National Cemetery next Monday. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory in Hollister.

Contributions are preferred to the Federation of the Blind, American Heart Assn., American Diabetes Assn. or the Kidney Foundation.

Friends are invited for a celebration of  J.C.’s life on Monday, June 14 at Johnny’s Bar & Grill after 4 p.m.
