Ray Villegas died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at the age of 31 due to
being struck by an automobile on McCloskey Road.

He was born in Gilroy and had returned to Hollister from San Francisco just a year ago though he had lived here off an on for the past four years. He graduated from San Benito High School in 1990 and attended Yuba College and San Francisco State University. He had worked as a draftsman and also was a clothes model for a period of time.

He is survived by his father and mother, Richard Villegas Sr. and Rebecca Villegas, of Hollister; his grandfathers on both sides, Jose C. Gutierrez, of Hollister, and Martin Villegas, of Atascadero; two brothers and sister, Richard Villegas Jr., of Hollister, Rachel Sanchez, of Hollister, and Robert Villegas, of San Jose. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends can pay their respects on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Rev. Rudy Ruiz of Sacred Heart Church will officiate. Cremation will follow the services at Gavilan Hills Crematory with private family inurnment. 

Donations are preferred to St. Judo’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.
