Ronald Borges, 65, of Elm Park, N.Y., a retired carptenter foreman, died Saturday, May 29 2004 in West Brighton, N.Y.
Born in Holbrook, Long Island, he moved to Hollister at the age of 7 and graduated from San Benito High School.
Mr. Borges joined the Army in 1962, serving as a marksman and a tank rebuilder while stationed in Germany. After being discharged in 1964, he settled in Elm Park.
He worked for 30 years as a carpenter foreman for the Federal Reserve Bank in New York, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Borges enjoyed raising pigeons, fishing, gardening and restoring cars.
“He was a true family man with a great love for his family,” said his son, Albert.
“He was the love of my life and he was the best thing that ever happened to me,” said his wife of 38 years, the former Elizabeth Marotta. “I’ll miss him dearly. He’ll be missed dearly by me and all his children and family.”
Mr. Borges was a parishioner of St. Adalbert’s R.C. Church in Elm Park.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, and his son, Albert, he is survived by his son Gabriel; his two daughters Mary and Cathy-Ann Borges; his brother, Robert; his sister Lorraine Wiggins; and four grandchildren.
Services were held in Port Richmond, N.Y. on June 3, 2004.
