resident of San Benito County, passed away in Bakersfield on Oct.
6. He was 71 years old.
David Ray Cullumber, a native of San Juan Bautista and life long resident of San Benito County, passed away in Bakersfield on Oct. 6. He was 71 years old.
Mr. Cullumber was a self-employed carpenter all his life working in construction in San Benito and Santa Clara Counties. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local in Gilroy. He was a graduate of San Juan Bautista Schools and San Benito High School. He served with the National Guard and was a volunteer fireman with the San Juan Bautista Fire Department. His family said he always loved the outdoors whether working in construction or hunting and fishing. Even after he retired he enjoyed helping people work on their home improvement projects.
He is survived by his children Joyce Fredrick and Daniel Martone of Bakersfield, Ronald Cullumber of Missouri, Rose Marie Crary of Allenhurst, Ga., and Ramona Lewis of Roseville. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Arrangements have been made for private cremation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tues. Oct. 12 at 2pm at the chapel of Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home 870 San Benito St. Interment is at the family plot at San Juan District Cemetery. Memorials may be directed Jovenes De Antano’s program for senior citizens c/o the mortuary chapel.
