Hollister resident
Albert B. Pfeiffer of Hollister died Tuesday evening at Hazel Hawkins Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 80.
A native of the San Joaquin Valley, Mr. Pfeiffer came to San Benito County 31 years ago. He was a local cattle rancher for more than 30 years and served in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War with the U.S. Air Force as a B-52 squadron commander at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Wash.
Mr. Pfeiffer was also a member of the San Benito County Saddlehorse Association; member and past president of the SBC Cattlemans Association and a 25-year member of the Hollister Elks Lodge.
He also enjoyed fishing and hunting in Nevada.
Mr. Pfeiffer is survived by his wife Donna Pfeiffer of Hollister; daughter and son-in-law Michele and Jim Prewett of Gilroy; sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Patty Moore of Tennessee and Brad and Patty Moore of Martinez; grandsons Brendan Moore of Fresno and Kyle Prewett of Gilroy; granddaughter Alethea Prewett of Gilroy and sister Jean Gregory of Reno, Nev.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon to 7 p.m. Friday. Graveside services are pending.
